Maureen was born in Sheboygan County don’t ya know and is partial to the Sheboygan-style brats which are expertly seasoned by our processor and a good everyday brat. To cook them, we recommend braising first in liquid, then finishing on the grill. In Sheboygan, they’re often braised in a Milwaukee-brewed beer.
To cook bratwurst, first prick them with a fork, then place in a stockpot with some butter, sliced onion and cover with beer or broth or water. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Then place on a preheated grill and grill until brown and crispy, another 10 minutes or so. Serve on hard rolls with stone-ground mustard, or a hearty bed of greens. And don’t forget the sauerkraut!
